jessica cooney (founder)

  • First discovering Pilates when recovering from a serious autoimmune condition in her teens, Jess knows first-hand the transformative qualities Pilates can have. Now, with decades of teaching experience mostly in injury rehabilitation, Jess has built the studio to be a positive, safe, friendly space for learning and change. Having previously worked in corporate studios and highly stimulating boutique fitness spaces, she wanted to bring something different to the London wellness community. With a firm grounding in both traditional and contemporary Pilates, Jess also layers other methodologies and movements into her practice to create a bespoke session for every client in a relaxed and positive setting.

jonny caguoia

  • Originally training with Alan Herdman, Jonny brings his precision and fluidity learned at the Royal Ballet School to all his classes, along with his innate warmth and humour. With a teaching career including both general fitness and injury rehabilitation, as well as his experience as a soloist at the Birmingham Royal Ballet, he is an adaptable and empathetic teacher. Whether you’re working through musculoskeletal issues, or training for a triathlon, you’re in safe hands.

Erin Young

  • After a career in dancing, Erin injured her back and felt she needed to treat her body differently. After working with a physio, she got introduced to Pilates, which started to fuel her passion for reconnecting her mind to her body through simple Pilates exercises. She went on to complete Alan Herdman’s fully comprehensive Pilates course, which emphasised rehabilitation and injury prevention. Having been highly active through dance since a young age and eager to push herself, Erin realised that by changing her approach to her body and focussing on the 'why', she could achieve a functional, protective, injury-free body, which then transformed her practice. She is committed to helping her clients experience the advantages of Pilates, such as injury prevention, increased strength and mobility whilst creating an expansive, open,  and enlightening session.

Gabriela Aloisio

  • Gabi is Shoreditch Pilates’ first apprentice, trained by our founder, Jess. Gabi’s practice is grounded in the fundamental principles of pilates, combined with contemporary and classical pilates methods. Her classes cater to the individual needs of clients and are designed to ground and challenge. She loves to help her clients improve on mental and physical health, to improve daily life.

Having spent the first 18 years of her life training in classical and contemporary dance, Gabi concluded her dance career at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia, studying dance, anatomy, pilates and kinesiology.
After retiring her pointe shoes, she went on to work in the corporate world, but after spending long days sitting at desks in law firms and banks, she found herself dealing with numerous back aches, hip aches and pains; prompting her to take up pilates again. Relieving pain whilst getting stronger and more flexible and confident, she decided to deepen her knowledge by studying for her pilates qualification.

Gabi takes a holistic approach to teaching by combining analytical corporate skills with her background in various fitness modalities, helping each client achieve their respective wellness goals.
